The People, Places, and Moments That Keep Hostek going!

A lot of companies talk about teamwork. At Hostek, teamwork looks a little different.

Our team is spread across the world. Some of us are separated by oceans, different time zones, and thousands of miles, yet every day we come together to build, support, and maintain the hosting solutions our customers rely on.

Because we are mostly a remote company, the moments when we can actually get together are something special. They are a chance to put faces to names, share stories outside of a chat window, and remember that behind every ticket, project, and server is a real person working alongside us.

This year gave us several opportunities to do exactly that.

Connecting with the ColdFusion Community in Las Vegas

Our first stop was Las Vegas for the ColdFusion Summit 2026!

The ColdFusion community has been an important part of Hostek’s history, and attending the summit gave us the opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new developers, and talk with others who are passionate about building great applications.

Beyond the conversations, presentations, and networking, we also wanted to bring a little extra excitement to the event. During the summit, we hosted a giveaway where attendees could participate for a chance to win a new PC by submitting a Selfie or Picture with our Hostek mascot the owl!

The response was fantastic, and seeing the excitement around the giveaway was one of the highlights of the event. Events like this are a reminder that technology communities are built by people who enjoy sharing ideas, solving problems, and having a little fun along the way.

From Worldwide Teammates to One Table in Tulsa

After ColdFusion Summit, we continued the celebration with our annual Hostek meetup in Tulsa

For many companies, a team dinner might be routine. For a remote company like ours, it is a milestone.

Our team members traveled from around the country and the world to be there, including teammates from Florida, Missouri, Canada, Bulgaria, London, and other locations. While we communicate every day online, there is something different about sitting across the table from someone you normally know through a screen.

The Tulsa meetup gave us time to talk about projects, share ideas, celebrate wins, and simply enjoy being together. It strengthened the connections that make remote work successful.

The best teams are not built only through zoom meetings and emails. They are built through conversations, shared experiences, and the moments in between.

 Adventure time with FrogQuest

The highlight of our team activities was a company-wide scavenger hunt hosted by our valued Hostek customer, FrogQuest

Instead of a traditional team-building exercise, FrogQuest created an experience that had everyone competing, laughing, and thinking creatively.

FrogQuest specializes in interactive photo scavenger hunts where teams complete challenges, submit photos, compete on a leaderboard, and create memories along the way. Their events are designed to bring people together through creativity, teamwork, and a healthy dose of competition.

Our FrogQuest event delivered exactly that.

With our guest host Chris Gierman, serving as the questmaster, our team — along with family members who joined the fun — worked together through challenges that brought out everyone’s competitive side. Some people showed off their creativity, some showed off their problem-solving skills, and some simply provided the entertainment value that every great team needs.

A huge thank you goes out to Chris Gierman from FrogQuest for creating such a memorable experience and for being such a fantastic host. It was the type of event that reminds you why taking time away from the daily routine matters.

Looking Back and Looking Ahead

While these events were focused on connection and team culture, they are also part of a bigger story happening at Hostek.

We have continued working on improving our services, supporting our customers, and building new ways to deliver dependable hosting solutions. We have shared many of those updates, milestones, and announcements throughout the year on our blog so Thank you for stopping by each month to read along.

As we continue through the year, we are excited about what is ahead — new projects, new opportunities, and new ways to support our customers.

As I wrap up this year’s meetup, I want to give a special thank you to Joshua Brown for the countless hours of planning and hard work that went into making it all happen. From the team-building activities and shared dinners to the travels and conversations in between, every detail helped create an experience that brought us closer together.

Working remotely means we don’t often get the chance to connect face-to-face, which makes this annual Tulsa meetup something truly special. It’s a reminder that while we may work from different places, we’re still one team.

Why don’t owls use GPS?
Because they prefer to wing it.
